Lino Block Printing :)

I wanted to make some fun block prints for an upcoming group show in October 2011. This is a 9" x 12" lino block being prepared for carving. I drew the image on the block and filled in all the areas I want to keep with black sharpie. The lighter areas (that expose the lino) will be carved out, that way when I apply the ink it will only touch the surfaces on which have not been carved.

A Work In Progress

This is the first painting I've done since moving to Philly almost 2 years ago.  Its 3' x 4', oil on canvas. It's a self portrait that discusses the constant battle between my current and former self. In this painting my head is a rotary phone. The picture reads as human, object, and character, pulling different characteristics from each group and combining in an intense way.

This is the sketch that the painting is based off of. It was taken from my sketch book and is very small in size so I had to use a projector to get it on the huge canvas.
